Ruby Lee Johns Herrin

Nahunta- Mrs. Ruby Johns Herrin, 92, of Nahunta died early Wednesday morning (August 24, 2011) at Southeast Georgia Health System after a brief illness. Born in Hickox, GA her parents were Wiley Elbert and Arizona "Zoni" Batten Johns. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Delma F. Herrin; 7 siblings, Mae Johns, Lehnan Johns, Oden Johns, Juanita Blair, Earl Jackson Johns, Jay O. Johns and Owen Johns. Ruby was a homemaker and a member of Hickox Baptist Church. Also she was an Eastern Star and a well known business lady for many years. Survivors is her sister, Letha Johns Tucker of Nahunta; 4 nephews, Tommy Tucker, Greg Johns, Jeff Johns and Neil Johns; 4 nieces, Annette Washam, Dona Cox-Cosgrove, Delon Warner and Lisa Jacobs; 8 great nephews, Wayne Cox, Christian Cox, Eric Tucker, Damon Johns, Michael Tucker, Jay Johns, Jeremy Johns and Trent Jacobs; 5 great nieces, Jennifer Cox, Amanda Johns, Melanie Tucker, Alisha Jacobs and Tori Johns; 12 great great nephews and nephews; and also several other relatives. Visitation will be held Friday evening (August 26, 2011) from 6-8PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Saturday morning (August 27, 2011) at 11AM at Hickox Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Johns and Rev. Vance Colley officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Raybon. Pallbearers will be Tommy Tucker, Wayne Cox, Christian Cox, Greg Johns, Jeff Johns, Jay Johns and Jeremy Johns. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Wade Strickland, Odie Crews, John Williams, Ronnie Crews, Quintman Lewis, Robbie Batten and Randy Batten. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home.
