Samuel "Sammy" John Curry, 56, of Nahunta died early Thursday morning (January 6, 2011) from injuries sustained in a house fire. Born in Brunswick, GA his parents were John Lemuel and Nancy Jean Risher Curry. He is also preceded in death by the mother who raised him, Mary "Caddie" Harris and 3 brother, Frankie Harris, Herman Harris and Johnny Harris. Sammy served in the United States Army and was a heavy equipment operator. Also he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing video games and being a mechanic. Sammy also loved his dog Red Man. Survivors include his 2 sons, Devin and Brian Curry both of Waynesville; a brother and sister-in-law, Cecil & Claudine Harris of Nahunta; 2 sisters & brothers-in-law, Martha & Bobby Alldreadge of Nahunta and Carolyn & Larry O'Berry of Folkston; a very special friend, Evelyn Hickox of Waynesville; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Friday evening (January 21, 2011) starting at 6 PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A memorial service will be held Saturday afternoon (January 22, 2011) at 2PM at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Wilbur Dean officiating. Memorialization will be by cremation.
