Waynesville- Mr. Samuel "Sammy" Lamar Roberson, 65, of Waynesville died suddenly Saturday afternoon (April 9, 2011) from injuries sustain in an automobile accident. Born in Racepond, GA his parents were James Emmitt and Mildred Viola Wilson Roberson. He is also preceded in death by 2 brothers, J.R. Wilson and Jackie Roberson; and a sister, Delores King. Sammy served in the United States Army and worked with Glynn County Road and Bridges Department for many years. Also he enjoyed fishing, restoring old cars and loved willing and dealing with people. He was also of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Ann Roberson of Waynesville; a son, Jesse J. Roberson of Waynesville; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Franklin & Linda Roberson and Gene & Doris Roberson both from Waycross; 3 sisters and a brother-in-law, Geraldine Edwards of Hoboken, Paulette Morgan of Waycross and Janice & Virgil Dowling of Hoboken; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Monday afternoon (April 11, 2011) from 1-2PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Monday afternoon (April 11, 2011) at 2PM in the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Butch Hickox officiating. Burial will follow in Highsmith Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Davie King, Julian Corbitt, Jesse Roberson, Sammy Dowling, Frank Roberson, Jr. and Johnny Roberson. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
