Sandra Ruth Wiggins

Waynesville- Sandra Ruth Wiggins, 80 of Waynesville, passed away Saturday afternoon (February 24, 2024) at her residence following an extended illness.

Born in Brunswick, GA., her parents were Stewart Johnson Wiggins II and Elrich Crews Wiggins. She was also preceded in death by her former spouse, Gordon Mitchell, Sr.; two sons, Vance Mitchell and Dennis Mitchell; a brother, Johnson Wiggins; sister, Mary Christine Clark; a brother-in-law, Enie Logue; and a nephew, Scott Dubberly.

Sandra worked many years in banking and was of the Baptist Faith. She loved genealogy, sewing, making jewelry, cooking, watching her grandkids play and loved her family and spending time with them. She graduated from Nahunta High School in the Class of 1961 and organized the Mineral Springs Chapter of NSDAR. She was also a member of the St. Johns Parish chapter of the DAC and Lanier of Glynn chapter of the UDC.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Gordon Mitchell, Jr. (Leisa) of Waynesville; daughter-in-law, Donna Mitchell of Waynesville; 14 grandchildren and their spouses, Cristina Box (Clay) of Hortense, Rachel Nixon (Cody) of Waynesville, Blair Lyons (Bryce) of Bradenton, FL., Tristian Mitchell, Trinity Lee, both of Waynesville, Dennis Mitchell II, Jimmy Mitchell, both of Brunswick, Abbigail Mason (Trevor), Riley Mitchell, all of Hortense, Amanda Lewis (Tim) of Fl., Carrie McNeely, William McNeely, both of Waynesville, Christina Miller (Dillon) of Hortense and Jayme Hall (Jason) of Waycross; sister, Barbara Logue, of Waynesville; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Wiggins also of Waynesville; nieces and nephews, Lorin Clark (Carla), Ken Clark (Kenya), all of Hickox, Julie Manning (Brian) of Jesup, Rissa Self (Ritchie) of Hortense and Jennifer McDaniel (Bradley) of Waynesville. Also several other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held Friday (March 1, 2024) from 6PM-8PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

A Graveside Service will be held Saturday (March 2, 2024)at 11AM at Wiggins Cemetery with Rev. Ritchie Self officiating.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Mitchell II, Jimmy Mitchell, Cody Nixon, Clay Box, Jayden Box and Trinity Lee.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
