Sarah Nell Rooks

Brunswick – Sarah Nell Underwood Rooks, 77, of Brunswick passed away Thursday (August 6, 2020) at Southeast Georgia Health System after a brief illness.

Born in Kingsland, Georgia, her parents were Loy Underwood and Lula Mae Smith Underwood. She is preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, Dub, Robert, Wayne, Russell and Thomas Underwood, and 2 sisters, Laverne Smith and Linda Lewis.

Sarah was a member of the Waynesville Church of God. She loved gardening, sharing her vegetables with others, cooking, anointed singing and her dog Peewee.

She is survived by her husband, Jerome Rooks of Brunswick, 2 Sons and daughters-in-law; Leslie Rooks (Barbara) of Brunswick and Leon Rooks (Krissy) of Waynesville, a daughter and son-in-law; Becky Stokes (Larry) of Waynesville, 3 Grandchildren and their spouses; Shelby Cookson (Stephen) of Brunswick, Lauren Rowell (Logan) of Waynesville, and Caleb Rooks of Brunswick, 2 Great Grandchildren; Sophia Cookson and Brooks Rowell, 3 Brothers and sisters-in-law; Ricky Underwood (Carolyn), Rudy Underwood, and Clyde Underwood (Donna) all of Brunswick, 4 Sisters and 2 brothers-in-law; Velma Underwood, Sharon Underwood (Lee), Debbie Underwood, all of Brunswick and Vanessa Daniels (Jeffrey) of Waycross. Also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Due to the COVID-19, the family would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask are recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services, the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.

A graveside service will be held Monday morning (August 10, 2020) at 10 AM at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Waynesville, GA., with Rev. Larry Giles and Rev. Bobby Tatum officiating.

The family asked that donations be made to the Waynesville Church of God P.O. Box 519 Waynesville, GA 31566, in lieu of flowers.

A home going celebration memorial service will be held at a later date.
