Sarah Pope Wright Maddox

Lyons – Sarah Pope Wright Maddox, 95, of Lyons, GA passed away Saturday afternoon (July 22, 2017) at Community Hospice in Vidalia, GA after an extended illness.

Born in Vidalia, GA her parents were Herschel V. and Mamie Brantley Pope. She is preceded in death by her 1st husband, William “Bunk” Wright; her 2nd husband, Woodrow Maddox; a daughter, Nancy Wright Snell; 3 brothers; and 5 sisters.

Sarah was a book keeper and attended Lyons First Baptist Church. She also enjoyed painting, yardwork, and loved any kind of projects.

Survivors include her daughter, Pam Waters of Lyons; 4 grandchildren, Lymm Waters, Karann Raines, William Craig Shell, and Laura Waters; 7 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; a sister, Helen P. Kennington of Macon; and also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday morning (July 25, 2017) at 10:30am at Lyons City Cemetery in Lyons, GA with Chaplain Curt Tootlie officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Tuesday (July 25, 2017) starting at 9:30am.
