Waynesville- Retired Sergeant Major Ernest F. Gregor, Jr., 84 of Waynesville, passed away Tuesday (March 12, 2019) at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.
Born in Newark, NJ., his parents were Ernest Frederick Gregor, Sr. and Marion Kramer Gregor. He was also preceded in death by his son, Ernest F. Gregor, III.; and his daughter, Frances Gregor.
Sergeant Major Gregor was a retired E-9 for the United States Marine Corp and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of King Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Mary Outlaw Gregor, of Waynesville; 5 daughters and sons-in-law, Sandi Lee Cavanaugh (Joe), of Beaufort, S.C., Linda Marie Knuff (Frank), of Lakeworth, FL, Renee L. Faucher (Kyle), of Atlanta, GA , Mary Lee A. Bailey, of the Atkinson Community, and Julia J. Yates (Jason), of Greenville, S.C.; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Frank Bailey, III, of Charleston, S.C., and Louis Bailey, Sr.(Vicki), of the Atkinson Community; 7 grandchildren, Rachelle “Shelly” Cheslak (Ryan), Bryan Cavanaugh (Kimberly), Christopher Bonnell (Alex), Mallorie Bonnell, Louis Nathan Bailey, Jr., Joseph Stone Bailey, and Nathan Ernest Bailey; 3 great grandchildren, Sawyer Cheslak, Easton Cheslak, and Beauregard “Beau” Cavanaugh. Also several other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday (March 14, 2019) from 6PM-8PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A graveside service with Military honors and Masonic rites will be held Friday afternoon (March 15, 2019) at 12PM at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, South Carolina; 1601 Boundary St. Beaufort, SC. 29902.
