Shelba Lynes Copeland

Waycross-Shelba "Joann" Lynes Copeland, 57 of Waycross, passed away Sunday (September 9, 2012) at St. Vincent Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL following an extended illness. Born in Nahunta, GA., her parents are Maybel Arnold Lynes and the late Jesse James Lynes. She is also preceded in death by one brother, Linton Lynes. Shelba worked as a cook at Baptist Village, and attended King Memorial Baptist Church. She loved fishing, camping, and traveling. Survivors include her husband, Martin Copeland, Jr., of Waycross; her mother, Maybel A. Lynes, of Atkinson; a son, Al Walker, of Jesup; 2 step-children, Alan Copeland, and Veronica Morris, both of Sorrento, FL.; 4 grandchildren, Jakob Walker, Jarrod Copeland, Coty, and Tabatha Morris; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Bobbie Lynes, of Beeville, TX., John and Lois Lynes, of Blackshear; 4 sisters and brothers-in-law, Mable Darlene and Carroll Moody, of Hortense, Gail and James Shuman, of Atkinson, Pam and Mac Cook, of Hickox, and Charlotte Denise and Erwin Skipper, of Atkinson. Also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening ( September 12, 2012) at 6 PM, at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday ( September 13, 2012) at 11:00AM at Lulaton Baptist Church, with Rev. Monroe Gill and Rev. Michael Foreman officiating. Burial will follow in Knox Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alan Copeland, Jarrod Copeland, James Shuman, Erwin Skipper, Brad Miller, and Larry Miller. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
