Sinda Thornton Salazar

Sinda Elizabeth Thornton Salazar, 62 of Waynesville, passed away Tuesday afternoon(August 23, 2016) at Hospice of the Golden Isles, in Brunswick, following an extended illness.

Born in Waycross, GA., her parents are Rosalyn Shirleen Jacobs Thornton, of Waynesville, and the late Redick Aaron Thornton, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert Owen Thornton; and a biological son, Michael Puhl.

Sinda was a member of Waynesville Church of God. She worked many years as a housekeeper for Hospitals, and loved gardening, flowers, animals, and children.

Survivors include her husband, George Salazar, of Colorado; her biological daughter and son-in-law, Tina Marie Puhl Mercer (Chris), of Middleburg, FL.; her biological son and daughter-in-law, Allen Payne Thornton (Shannon), of Waynesville; her mother, Rosalyn Shirleen Thornton, of Waynesville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Redick “Bo” Thornton, III, of Waynesville; Joey Thornton (Melinda), also of Waynesville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Susan Carol Corwin (Clay), of Brunswick, and Rose Marie Holiday, of Waynesville. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon (August 28, 2016) from 2PM-3PM at Southside Baptist Church, Nahunta.

A Funeral Service will be held Sunday afternoon (August 28, 2016) at 3PM at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Jonathan Thornton, Rev. Horace Godfrey, Rev. Justin Thornton, and Rev. William Jacobs officiating.

Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Redick Thornton IV, Robbie Thornton, Stephen Thornton, Brandon Thornton, Joshua Thornton, and Nicholas Roberson.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
