Nahunta- Stephanie Padgett Watkins, 60 of Nahunta, passed away Tuesday (April 23, 2013) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross, following an extended illness. Born in Reidsville, GA., her parents were Richard and Elva Eason Padgett. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Christopher Ray Glendenning; and her brother, Kenneth Padgett. Stephanie was of the Baptist Faith. She worked many years as a painter, she loved woodworking, genealogy, hunting, and fishing. Stephanie also served in the United States Army and the United States Army Signal Corps. She was a life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, the Disabled American Veterans, the Brantley County Historical Society, the Waynesville Historical Preservation Society, and an Associate member of the Daughters of The Confederacy. Survivors include her husband, Dennis Watkins, of Nahunta;a daughter, Dolores Treese, of St. Mary's; 2 grandchildren, Aaron Glendenning and Christina Lewis; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Anthony Padgett (Shirley), of Glen St. Mary's, FL, Jerry Padgett (Louise), of St. Mary's, and Bill Padgett (Diane) of Jesup; and a sister and brother-in-law, Sue Wilson (Burkes), of Brunswick. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A Visitation will be held Sunday (April 28, 2013) from 6-8PM, at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Funeral Service will be held Monday (April 29, 2013) at 2 PM, at Frye Funeral Home with Bishop Hugh Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in the Wiggins Peoples Cemetery, in Waynesville. Pallbearers will be Spence Davis, Bill Watkins, Aaron Glendenning, Mike Kilgore, Steven Kirkland, and Dwight Watkins. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
