Steven Wayne “Skeeter” Mercer, born on February 12, 1954, passed away on November 7, 2022, at Satilla Hospice House, at the age of 68.
Steven worked at Atlantic Dry Dock in Jacksonville, FL. He also transported and set up mobile homes in Alma, GA.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading his bible, and working on his truck.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Janet Mercer of Hoboken; one brother, William “Tootsie” Mercer of Jacksonville, FL.; and a son, Jason Vaughn of Alma, GA.
Steven was survived by one daughter, April Brinson of Nashville, TN.; two grandsons, Isaiah Peeler of Hazlehurst, GA and Ethan Vaughn.; two granddaughters, Jalicia Brinson of Nashville, TN.and Carly Vaughn; one stepdaughter, Jasmine Sontag of Alma, GA ; four step grandchildren, Amanda, Kayla, Lauren, and Dustin; two sisters, Billie Chaney of Hoboken, GA., and Susan Chauncey of Baxley, GA; two brothers, Quinton Mercer of Hoboken, GA. And Lonnie Mercer of Jacksonville, FL.
Skeeter had many friends and was loved by all who knew him. May you fly high my friend.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday (November 12, 2022) at 1PM at the residence of Mrs. Billie Chaney; 903 Ferry Rd. Hoboken, GA. 31542.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
