Susan "Josephine" Gibson

Hortense – Susan “Josephine” Moore Gibson, 95, of Hortense passed away Friday morning (November 4, 2022) at her residence after a brief illness.

Born in Baldwin, GA her parents were Andy Moore and Susie Martin Moore. She is also preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Robert Gibson; a daughter, Patsy Hyers; a son, Ricky Gibson; a son-in-law, Edward Hyers; a grandson, Patrick Hyers; a great great grandson, Aiden Hyers; and 4 brothers and a sister.

Josephine was a homemaker and was the oldest member of Satilla Missionary Baptist Church. She loved sitting on her front porch and cooking.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Butch Gibson (Wilma Jean) of Hortense; 6 grandchildren, Robert Hyers (Shelly) of Hortense, Melissa Roberts (Leonard) of Hoboken, Brian Gibson of Hortense, Valerie Hutcheson (Josh) of Brunswick, Shane Gibson of Hoboken, and Colter Gibson (Brandy) of Ideal; 6 great grandchildren, Tucker Hyers (Leah) of Nahunta, McKenzie Smith (David) of Charlotte, NC, Leela Roberts of Hoboken, Sierra Gibson, Ezra Smith and Skylar Gibson all of Ideal; 2 great great grandchildren, Kager Hyers and Maggie Hyers both of Nahunta; a brother and sister-in-law, Tony Moore (Reecie) of Headland, AL; second daughter, Shirley Ansel of Hortense; special friends, John Willie Johns and Dorothy Moody both of Hortense; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday (November 7, 2022) starting at 10am at Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

A graveside service will be held Monday (November 7, 2022) at 11am at Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Bishop Rob Hutto and Rev. Terry Jackson officiating.

Pallbearers will be John Willie Johns, Robert Hyers, Tucker Hyers, Josh Hutcheson, Brian Gibson, Colter Gibson, Ezra Smith, Shane Gibson and Leonard Roberts.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

The family will be receiving family and friends at the residence of Butch & Wilma Jean Gibson at 165 Cumberland Rd, Hortense, GA 31543.
