Sylvester Gordon Rewis, 67 of Nahunta, passed away Sunday (May 29, 2016) at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick, GA.
Born in Nahunta, GA., his parents were Stacy Gordon Rewis and Velma Mishoe Roberson. He was also preceded in death by his son, Darrell Rewis; and the mother of his children, Shirley.
Mr. Rewis worked many years as a truck driver for Skipper Harris Land clearing. He was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bogging.
Survivors include his three sons and daughter-in-law, Stacy and Elaine Rewis, of Kyle, TX., Brian and Casey Rewis, of Round Rock, TX., and Scott Rewis, of TX.; six grandchildren, Racheal and Cory Griffiths, Stacy Rewis, Dustin Rewis, Ashley Rewis, Josh Rewis, Zach Rewis, and Zoey Rewis; his brother, Eugene “Buddy” Rewis, of Lulaton; his sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Larry Harrell, of Lulaton; two half brothers, Eddie Rewis, of Jacksonville, and Stacy and Belinda Rewis, of Valdosta; his half sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Howie Brigance, of Jacksonville; and his step sister, Diane Hampton, of Nahunta. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday (June 1, 2016) at 4PM at Thomas Cemetery with Rev. Gene Knox officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service, at the cemetery starting at 3 PM.
Pallbearers will be Lucky Roberson, Marshall Cloniger, Josh Sheppard, Freddie King, G.W. Knox, and Edwin Barnes.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
