Tommy “Toby” Darren Lane, 50 of Hortense, passed away early Sunday morning (August 1, 2021) at his residence.
Born in Jesup, GA., his parents are Tommy Lane, of Hortense and Tavares Johns Lane, of Hoboken. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, J.W. and Della Lane, of Hortense; maternal grandparents, Gordon and Ruth Johns, of Nahunta; two nephews, Jared Lane-Morrison and Jacob Lane-Morrison; aunts, Florence Pearson, of Hortense, Gertrude Hodges, of Jacksonville, Amelia Cook, of Nahunta; uncle, Gordon Johns, Jr.; cousins, Pat Lane, of Hortense, Amy Johns, of Middleburg, FL, Ann Peavey, of Jacksonville, Sandra Hodges, of Jacksonville, Janise Hickox, of Waycross, and Mack Cook, of Hickox.
Toby attended Remnant Church and worked many years as a Logger. He worked for J.L. Trucking, Pitts Logging, and Lane Timber Co. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing with his grandbaby. Toby was a hard worker who loved his family and his mama’s cooking.
Survivors include his father, Tommy Lane, of Hortense; mother, Tavares Johns Lane, of Hoboken; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Della Lane Allen (Ross), of Nahunta, Catera Lane (Adam Dixon), of Waycross, Martha Tavares Lane, of Hoboken; 1 granddaughter, Adelynn Dixon, of Waycross; 6 sisters and brothers-in-law, Danita Turpin (Mark), of Bay City, Michigan, Daphne Lane Crews (Jonathan Reed), of Nahunta, Sheila Lane, of Hoboken, Sharon Morrison (Randy), of Blackshear, Charity Lane (Charlie Causey), of Hortense, Crystal Smith (Josh), of Homerville; the mother of his children, Yancy Lane, of Jesup; aunts and uncles, Hubert Lane (Glenda), of Hortense, Janell Kenna, of St. Cloud, FL., Jimmy Lane (April), of Hortense, Jackie Lane, also of Hortense, Herman Johns (Bonnie), of Middleburg, FL.; 12 nieces and nephews; 8 great nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Kathy Faircloth; Also numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday (August 5, 2021) from 6PM-8PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
Funeral Services will be held Friday (August 6, 2021) at 11AM at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Whaley officiating.
Burial will follow in Bachlott Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Mathie, Martin Mathie, Cody Crews, Mitchell Crews, Zach Turpin, Connor Turpin, Joshua Lane, and Caleb Lane.
Due to COVID-19, we would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing, also face mask are highly recommended at the service. Anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the service the family would like you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Frye Funeral Home to assist the family with services.
The family will be receiving friends for food and fellowship after the service at the residence of Randy and Sharon Morrison; 4210 Nola Rd. Blackshear, GA. 31516.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
