Troy Maddox

Nahunta- Troy “Lannis” Maddox, 55, of Nahunta passed away Sunday morning (April 16, 2017) at his residence following an extended illness.

Born in Nahunta, Ga., his parents were the late Troy Alex “T.A.” Maddox and Gertrude “Gertie” Morgan Maddox Knox. He was also preceded in death by his other father, David Junior Knox, and his other mother, Carol Marie Maddox, a nephew, Eric Johns, and a brother Gerald Knox. He was a member of the Lulaton Baptist Church. He loved fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 12 yrs., LaDonna Sheets Maddox of Nahunta; 10 children and their spouses, Bryan Maddox (Rebecca) of Cleveland, TN, Will Maddox (Emily) of Cleveland, TN, Mitchell Maddox (Nicole) of Hilliard, FL, Teisha Maddox (Gator) of Hilliard, FL, James Richard Pearson, of Nahunta, Ga., Tish Shiland, of Nahunta, Juanita Wells of Jesup, Denise Wells of Perry, Ga., Joseph Wells (Heather) of Savannah, Ga., Jennifer Allen (Chuck) of Hickox; 7 brothers and their spouses, David Knox of St. Simons Is., Wayne Know (Gail) of Brunswick, Donald Knox of Nahunta, Gene Knox (Diane) of Waynesville, Ricky Knox (Trixie) of Waycross, Earl Knox (Trina) of Kingsland, and Joe Knox of Nahunta; 7 sisters and their spouses, Dell Canaday (Steve) of St. George, Brenda Johnson (Clyde) of Blackshear, Sabrina Flowers (Abe) of Nahunta, Pam Smith (Mitchell) of Callahan, Fl., Nelda Manning (Bob) of Callahan, Fl., Ann Horne (Dennis) of Kingsland, and Trish Trouille (Alton) of Hilliard, Fl. 32 grandchildren and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening (April 18, 2017) from 6PM-8PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday evening (April 19, 2017) at 2PM at Smyrna Cemetery with Rev. Mike Maddox officiating.

Pallbearers will be Timmy Davis, Perry Young, Michael Crews, James Flowers, Vance Damper, Timmy Knox, Chris Prescott, and Will Johns.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Sheets, Ricky Joiner, Wayne Davis, Buddy Crews, Scott Strickland.

The family ask that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Frye Funeral Home 136 Satilla Ave. Nahunta, GA. for the service.

The family will be receiving friends at the Maddox residence at 85 Matthew Circle Nahunta, Ga.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
