Hortense-Mrs. Verdie Mae Rogers Rowell,87,of Hortense died early Thursday morning (Jan. 3, 2013) in The Southeast Georgia Health System , Brunswick Campus after a brief illness. Born in Hortense, Georgia she was the daughter of Milton E. and Ora Lee Sloan Rogers. Mrs. Rowell was also preceded in death by her loving husband Roy Rowell,3-Grandsons, Anthony Paul Rocha, Rodney Allen Branch and Marcus Rocha, 2-Sisters, Rosa Lee Daniels and Greta Douglas, a Brother, Milton E. Rogers, Jr., a Daughter-in-law, Marie Rowell, 2-Sons-in-law, Morris Chesser and Kerry O'Quinn. Mrs. Rowell was a charter member of Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church, also a member of The Red Hat Society, The Seniors Citizen Group, Adult Ladies Sunday School Class, she had "A servants heart". She enjoyed cooking and reading and spending time with her family and friends. Survived by her 6-Children and their spouse, Larry and Johnny Faye Rowell, of Patterson, GA., Linda and Ken Blevins, of Wake Forest, N.C., Charlotte and Tony Rocha, of Brunswick, GA., Clinton Rowell, of Hortense, GA., Marba Jean and George Bishop, of Hortense, GA. and Tina and Larry Pafford, of Hortense, GA., 18, Grandchildren, 32 Great Grandchildren and 4-Great-Great-Grandchildren, 2-Brothers and a Sister-in-law, Herbert and Mildred Rogers, of Brunswick, GA., and Charles Rogers, of Columbus, GA., a Sister and Brother-in-law, Virginia and Tommy Peeples, of Blythe Island, GA., also a very special Sister-in-law, Eliza Sloan and many Nieces, Nephews other relatives and friends. She will be missed by many. Visitation will be Saturday evening (Jan. 5, 2013) from 6 till 9 P.M. at Frye Funeral Home in Nahunta, GA. Funeral services for Mrs. Rowell will be held Sunday afternoon (Jan. 6, 2013) at 2PM from Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Taylor and Rev. Jack Sinclair officiatating. Burial will follow in The Satilla Cemetery, Hortense, GA. Pallbearers will be Kerry Blevins, Chad Chesser, Scott Chesser, Pat Blevins, Joey Rocha, Andy Rowell, Ryan Pafford and Cody Pafford. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Alan Bowen, Dr. Wayne Moores, Dr. Tucker, Staff of The Davita Center, and The Adult Senior Ladies Class. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
