Nahunta- Virgil Douglas, 66, of Nahunta died early Friday morning (January 24, 2014) at Shands Jacksonville Medical Center after an extended illness. Born in Nichols, GA his parents were Lonnie & Nellie Mae Taylor Douglas. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Douglas; and 2 sisters, Marie Dominguez and Virginia Corbitt. Virgil was a heavy equipment operator for Rowell Construction and of the Church of God faith. He loved fishing and watching tv. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Margaret Bearden Douglas of Nahunta; a son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie L. & Tammy Douglas; a daughter and son-in-law, Tanya & Colin Causey of Nahunta; 5 grandchildren, Lonnie "Roscoe" Douglas, Shawn Douglas, Leah & Garrett Carroll, Margaret & Eddie Middleton, and Shane Douglas all of Nahunta; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, John & Charlotte Douglas and Steve & Ruth Douglas all of Louisiana; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service Monday afternoon (January 27, 2014) at New Hope Cemetery. A graveside service will be held Monday afternoon (January 27, 2014) at 2PM at New Hope Cemetery with Rev. Charles Florey officiating. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
