Hortense- Virginia "Ginger" Anita Anderson Johns, 56 of Hortense, passed away Sunday afternoon (January 9, 2022) at her residence following an extended illness.
Born in Jesup, GA., her parents are the late Charles Estues Anderson and Betty Morgan Anderson, of Hortense. Along with her father, she was also preceded in death by her son, Eric Johns.
Ginger was a member of Hortense Holiness Church and enjoyed crocheting, reading, shopping, and spending time with her family. She worked as Pastors Secretary for over 25 years at First Baptist Church in Jesup.
Survivors include her husband, John Willie Johns; two grandchildren, Jayden Johns and Jaycie Johns, of North Carolina; her mother, Betty Morgan Anderson, of Hortense; her sister and brother-in-law, Cindy Anderson Ragsdale (Robert), of Tallahassee, FL; and her nephew, Caden Ragsdale, also of Tallahassee, FL. Also several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday (January 12, 2022) from 6-9PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
Graveside Services will be held Thursday (January 13, 2022) at 11AM at Duck Pond Cemetery with Rev. Ray McMillan and Rev. Mike VonMoss officiating.
Pallbearers will be Justin Roberson, Roger Sloan, Spencer Martin, Slade McCauley, A.J. Hendrix, and Cameron Martin.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Eric Johns Scholarship Account at Prime South Bank; 530 Memorial Dr. Waycross, GA 31501; or Georgia Hospice Care; 141 South Macon Street Jesup, GA 31545.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
