Virginia Lee Lewis Ramer

Nahunta – Virginia Lee Lewis Ramer, 87, of Nahunta passed away early Tuesday morning (July 28, 2020) at Bayview Nursing Home after an extended illness.

Born in Nahunta, GA her parents were Evan Jackson Lewis and Ethel Mae Hickox Lewis. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Evan “Junior” Lewis; and 2 sisters, Doris Riggins Fowler and Margie Lewis Strickland.

Virginia was a switch board operator for Southern Bell and attended Grace Church of Nahunta. She loved her grandchildren, watching sports, working in her yard, sewing and reading.

She is survived by her son, Scott Ramer of Nahunta; a daughter, Terri Elizabeth Featherston of Nahunta; 7 grandchildren, William Austin Ray, Christopher Michael Sheffield, Patrick Sheffield, Taylor Sheffield, Jason Sheffield, Harrison Featherston and Blake Featherston; several great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Patsy Lewis of Crestview, FL; 3 nieces, Gail Riggins Herrin of Nahunta, Linda Riggins Jones of St. Simons and Sandra Riggins Schmitt of Midway; and also several other nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Due to the COVID-19, the family would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask are recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the Family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.

Visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service Thursday (July 30, 2020) from 2:30pm-3pm at Oak Grove Cemetery.

A graveside service will be held Thursday afternoon (July 30, 2020) at 3pm at Oak Grove Cemetery with Bro. John Smith officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tripp Herrin, Brad Herrin, Christopher Sheffield, Harrison Featherston and Blake Featherston.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
