Virginia Manning Bass

Hickox-Mrs. Virginia Pauline Manning Bass, 79 of Hickox, died Tuesday afternoon ( March 20, 2012) at her residence following a brief illness. Born in Hortense, GA. Her parents were Milton M. and Ealon Jacobs Manning. She is also preceded in death by her husband Joe Bass, and also a brother, Donald Manning. Virginia was a homemaker, and a member of Riverside Chapel Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School in the past. She was involved with the American Cancer Society. She had a passion for reading, painting, crocheting, and playing piano, she also worked for many years as a baliff for the Brantley County Jail. Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Barbara Bass, of Nahunta, and Scott and Gina Bass, of Rincon, Ga; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Sonya and Marvin Collins, of Nahunta; 6 grandchildren and their spouses, Daryl and Amanda Jacobs, of Guyton, GA, Derek and Misty Jacobs, of Douglas, Carla and Brad Oglesby, of Nahunta, Kevin Bass and fiancé, Britni Morgan, of Nahunta, Sarah Bass, and Rachel Bass, both of Rincon, GA; 7 great grandchildren, Sonya Hill, Dylan Jacobs, Nick and Brandon Hogg, Levi, Brook, and Weston Oglesby; 1 step-brother, Bernard Pearson, of Blackshear; 1 sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Buddy Allen, of Nahunta; and a special friend, Blanche Riggins, of Nahunta. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held Thursday evening ( March 22, 2012) starting at 6PM, at Riverside Chapel Baptist Church. A Funeral Service will be held Friday afternoon ( March 23, 2012) at 4PM, at Riverside Chapel Baptist Church, with Rev. Randy Wainright, and Rev. Edward Colley officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daryl Jacobs, Derek Jacobs, Kevin Bass, Brad Oglesby, Joe Allen, C.W. Riggins, and Gerald Drew. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Riverside Chapel Baptist Church, and Mrs. Blanche Riggins. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
