Vivien Katherine Middleton Byrd

Waycross – Mrs. Vivien Katherine Byrd died on February 7th, 2021 with her family by her side in Waycross, GA. She was born on September 8th, 1957 in Wilson, NC. Vivien graduated from Ware County High School in 1976. After graduation she attended Ware Technical College in Waycross, GA. She completed the Early Childhood Development Program with honors. She was honored with “Future Business Leaders of America and most Outstanding Business Leader of the Year”. In 2002 she went back to Ware Technical College and received a degree as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Vivien devoted all her time caring for and helping others. Her passion and devotion were to her family, children and grandchildren. Vivien’s interests include family, cooking, football, game shows, and Gunsmoke on TV. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Vivien was most famous for her “pecan chewies”.

Vivien is preceded in death by her father Mr. A. D. Middleton III; her sister Mrs. Rose Marie Middleton; a special friend Mr. Robert Scott Griffin; her grandparents; A. D. Jack “Jerry” Middleton, II and Vivien Nettles Middleton, and her great grandparents Mr. Clyde Dixon and Mrs. Louise Aspinwall.

Mrs. Byrd is survived by her husband of 43 years, Mr. Robert Joseph Byrd of Waycross, GA.; her mother Mrs. Betty J Middleton of Waycross, GA.; two daughters, Mrs. Loretta J. Tanner and Mrs. Christina L. Byrd (Daniel Mathie) of Waycross, GA.; four grandchildren; Jalin Caroline McCall (16 years old), Robert Jackson Luke Griffin (14 years old), Ellington Katherine Woodard (10 years old) and Soulan Mason Mathie (18 years old); one sister, Mrs. JoAnn Shaughnessy (Tim Shaughnessy); 2 brothers, Mr. Jack Middleton II (Jeanne Middleton) and Mr. Jesse Martin Middleton (Jeannie Middleton) and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Due to the COVID-19, we would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask are highly recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.

A memorial service will be held Thursday afternoon (February 11, 2021) at 2pm at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta with Rev. Thomas Williams officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday starting at 1pm at Frye Funeral Home.
