Wallace Lavon Crews, Sr., 69, of the Riverside community died Friday afternoon (February 26, 2010) at his residence after an extended illness. Born in Folkston, GA his parents were Ervin and Thelma Thrift Crews. He was also preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Mattie Dixon Crews. He was a truck driver for Fuel South and served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Lavon was a member of Winokur Baptist Church and loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his wife, Margie Crews of Riverside community; 6 Children and their spouses, Katrina "Tina" & James Myers and Wallace & Wendy Crews, Jr. both of Winokur, Marty & Betsy Crews of Folkston, Rhonda & Don Harris, Brenda & Mark Matteliano and Stacy & Brett West all of Winokur; 11 Grandchildren; 4 Great Grandchildren; 4 Sisters, Elaine Crews of Nahunta, Dianne Griffin of Winokur, Debbie Forrester and Robin Batten both of Riverside community; also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Saturday evening (February 27, 2010) at his residence 871 Stephen Park Rd. in the Riverside community. Funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon (February 28, 2010) at 3PM at Winokur Baptist Church with Rev. Reggie Herrin, Rev. E. C. Crews and Rev. Wayne Manning officiating. Burial will follow in Homeland Cemetery in Charlton Co. Pallbearers will be Randy Batten, Floyd Edenfield, Robbie Batten, Jamie Dixon, Will Woolard and Leon Woolard.
