Nahunta- Ward Turner, 91 of Nahunta, GA died Wednesday morning (Dec. 22, 2010) at BayView Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. Born in Pierce Co, GA, his parents were Kelly and Alice Aspinwall Turner. He is also preceded in death by a son, Larry Turner, a daughter, Hilda Groover, 2 Sisters, Oletha Purvis and Theotis Batten. Mr. Ward served in the U.S. Army in the Infantry during World War II and received the Purple Heart. Also had worked with the George State Road Department as a Truck Driver. He also was a member of Twin Rivers Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and selling cars. Survivors include his wife Lottie Turner of Nahunta; a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda & Donald Cleland of Hickox; 7 grandchildren and their spouses, Paula & Ronald Ham of Hickox, Robert & Missy Cleland of Raybon, Mike & Jenny Harrell of Arlington, GA, Wayne & Donna Harrell of Arlington, GA, Tina & Kirk Thomas of Lake Park, GA, Steve & Michelle Lee of Nahunta and Stacey Lee of Nahunta; 11 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Granddaughter on the way; a special sister, Aliene Turner; a daughter-in-law, Lou Turner; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Sunday evening (Dec. 26, 2010) from 6 PM-until at Frye Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Monday afternoon (Dec. 27, 2010) at 2PM at Twin Rivers Baptist Church in Raybon with Rev. Terry Jackson and Rev. Hilton Morgan officiating. Mr. Ward Turner will lay in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be Gavin Roberson, Stacey Lee, Steve Lee, Robert Cleland, Mike Harrell and Wayne Harrell.
