Atkinson- Warren B. Highsmith, of Atkinson, passed away Thursday morning (March 10, 2016) at Southeast GA Health System, in Brunswick, GA., following an extended illness.
Born in Nahunta, GA., his parents were John Milton Highsmith and Alice McDonald Highsmith. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Edith Herrin Highsmith; his brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Elsa Highsmith; his sister, Pat “Retha” Snowden; his brother-in-law- Ernest Warner; and his niece, Gloria Baxter.
Warren retired from Gilman Paper Company as a Crane Operator. He loved watching hummingbirds, squirrels, and rabbits in his yard. He also enjoyed visiting with his buddies at Atkinson Tire Company.
Survivors include his step-son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Sherry Lebar, of Hickox; his step-daughter and son-in-law, Missy and Mark Haynes, of Hickox; four grandchildren and their spouses, Kassie and Paul Graham, Chris and Jaren Lebar, Cody Haynes, and Matthew Haynes; three grandchildren, Emily Peeples, Katelyn Cammon, and Addyson Lebar; his sister, Peggie Highsmith Warner; nieces and nephews, Sharon Groemminger, Deniece McBride, Donnie Highsmith, Helen Highsmith, Corrine Byrne, Mike Highsmith, Lessie Sutherland, and Lisa Northcutt. Also many great and great great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening (March 15, 2016) from 6PM-8PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday (March 16, 2016) at 10AM at Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Ion Johns officiating.
Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark Haynes, Chris Lebar, Paul Cammon, and Ken Northcutt.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
