Waynesville – Wayne Lamar Baker, 70, of Waynesville passed away Wednesday evening (November 16, 2016) at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick after an extended illness.
Born in Ellenton, GA his parents Millard Fillmore and Vera Christine Hartley Baker. He is also preceded in death by his 4 brothers, Curtis Baker, Bobby Baker, Henry Baker, and Al Baker; and a sister, Bonnie Faye Baker Palmer.
Wayne was a truck driver for 30 years and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was also an air technician and loved gardening, hunting, and the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife Sue Baker of Waynesville; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne Lamar Baker, II of Waynesville, Terry Lee Baker (Amy) of Deltona, FL, and Bobby Gene Baker (Kim) of Cadillac, MI; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Kole Baker Dowling (Chaz) of Waynesville and Karen Darlene Baker of Deltona, FL; 11 grandchildren and one on the way, Ryker Dowling, Nova Dowling, Abigale Waynette Baker, Arielle Baker, Chaz “JC” Dowling, II, Joshua Baker, Jacob Baker, Joey Baker, Bobby Baker, Jr, Chris Baker, and Adam Baker; Brother and sister-in-law, Gene Baker (Sarah Marie) of Waynesville; mother-in-law, Marilyn Bordine Mathews Sellers; and also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held Saturday evening (November 19, 2016) from 6PM-8PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A funeral service will be held Sunday morning (November 20, 2016) at 10am at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home.
Burial will be held Sunday afternoon (November 20, 2016) at 3PM with Military honors at Buck Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 280 Buck Creek Church Rd, Norman Park, GA 31771.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Lamar Baker, II, Kole Dowling, Josh Baker, Jacob Baker, Joey Baker, Terry Baker,Kelly Mathews, Henry Baker, Jr., Michael Baker, and Chaz Dowling.
