Weightstille Williams

Hortense- Weightstille Lawton Williams, 82 of Hortense, passed away early Tuesday morning (March 5, 2013) at Wayne Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. He was born July 13, 1930 in Pierce County. He served two years in the United States Army, and then worked several years for Penetryn Systems in New York and Pollutions Solutions and Florida Pipe Tech in Florida. Mr. Williams was a member of Satilla Missionary Baptist Church in Hortense. He enjoyed fishing and he especially loved his pets, Wendy and Pookie. He was the son of the late Weightstille Griner Williams and Hattie Martin Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Williams Loper, and a brother-in-law, Richard E. Loper. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Helen Loper Williams, of Hortense; a sister, Helen Williams Rowell (husband-Donald) of Blackshear; a brother, Robert R. Williams (wife-Suzanne) of Buckport, ME. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday afternoon (March 7, 2013) at 3 PM at Frye Funeral Home with Rev. R.C. Mathis officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Hortense Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joey Loper, Carrol Moody, Floyd Holt, Mike Carver, and Sammy Davis. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to charity of your choice. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Sympathy may be expressed by signing our online registry at fryefh.com.
