William Alan Hinesley

June 13, 1939 — September 10, 2020

William was born in Warrenton, Georgia June 13, 1939 to the late William Augustus Hinesley and Freda Lowe Hinesley. He spent his early years in various school systems, moving to Nahunta in 1956 where he graduated from Nahunta High School in 1958. William attended Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA. and graduated with a Business Administration Degree. He later moved to Athens where he received his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Georgia, and worked as a Coordinator for the Richmond County Rehabilitation. He later joined the Georgia State Dept. of Rehabilitation under the umbrella of the Department of Education in Athens, Ga. for eight years. William was an avid “Dawgs” fan and season ticket holder. He attended the games until he was no longer able to go. However, he continued to follow the games on television until his death.

William joined the Brantley Telephone Company in 1972 as office manager where he retired after 26 years. William married a former high school classmate (Wanda Gail Herrin) in 2001. William and Wanda enjoyed traveling throughout the United States & Canada. His hobbies included hunting and fishing and especially photography, where he won several awards through the years. He spent many hours in Cades Cove photographing his favorite subjects, nature and wildlife. He was also a member of the Okefenokee Heritage Center Photography Guild.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Herrin Bradshaw Hinesley; 2 daughters, Lori Anne Lee (Marty) and Myra Jane Lake (David); 2 stepchildren, Derrick Bradshaw, Sr. (Robin) and Donna Bradshaw Russell (Rusty); 4 grandchildren, Weston Lake (Shyanne), Dillon Lake, Ross Allen (Della Lane), and Macie Allen Middleton (Landon); 8 step grandchildren children and 8 step great grandchildren. Several special cousins and a dear Aunt Gerri Hinesley of Warrenton.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the family asked that you follow the rules for social distancing. Also, if anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services, the family understands and ask you to be in prayer for our loved ones.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday afternoon (September 12, 2020) at 1PM at Hickox Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 2PM at Hickox Baptist Church with Rev. Ray McMillan and Rev. Jamie Giddens officiating.

Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Weston Lake, Dillon Lake, Ross Allen, Landon Middleton, Derrick Bradshaw II, and Hagen Zachary.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta, GA.
