Nahunta – William “Billy” Benton Flowers, 62, of Nahunta passed away Wednesday evening (November 20, 2019) at his residence after an extended illness.
Born in Avon Park, FL his parents were McKinley “Bub” Flowers and Edna Johns Flowers. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Dale Flowers; and a niece, Marie Altman.
Billy was a log truck driver and a member of Northside Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, GA. He loved fishing, gardening, crafting, mechanicing, and just tinkering with things.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Donna O’Berry Flowers of Nahunta; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Joseph Benton Flowers of Salisbury, NC and Joshua McKinley Flowers (Elizabeth) of Lenoir City, TN; 3 grandchildren, Erick Flowers, Bella Donna Flowers, and Gabriel Flowers; a great granddaughter; 2 sisters, Mary Tarner of Nahunta and Elizabeth Bonnie Conner of Nahunta; 5 special nieces, Dawn Tarner, Rose Altman, Paula Busino, Dee Hilliard, and Tammy Kyle; a special nephew, Willie Hilliard; and also several other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon (November 24, 2019) at 3PM at Riverside Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Dean officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service starting at 2pm at Riverside Chapel Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in Bachlott Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Vance Wilson, Michael Flowers, Matt O’Berry, Ed Lowther, Dale Johns and Demarus. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete O’Berry, Eugene Flowers, Steve Miller and Cordell Wainright.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home,Nahunta.
