William Edward Strickland

Nahunta - William Edward Strickland, 68, of Nahunta died Saturday morning (February 28, 2015) at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick after an extended illness. Born in Nahunta, GA his parents were Matthew E. and Geardene M. Harris Strickland. He is also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Terry Strickland and Charles Strickland. William was a truck driver and of the Baptist faith. He loved hunting and fishing and was a member of Logville C.B. Club. Survivors include his wife Ruth Douberly Strickland of Nahunta; a son, William Matthew Strickland of Nahunta; a daughter, Susan Lynette Lane (Gary Wainright) of Nahunta; 5 grandchildren, Christopher Lane, Caleb Lane, Colby Lane, Justin Strickland and CeeGee Strickland; 2 brothers, Derek Strickland and Darryl "Skinner" Strickland all of Nahunta; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Monday evening (March 2, 2015) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon (March 3, 2015) at 2PM at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Hendrix and Rev. Jody Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Caleb Lane, Colby Lane, Justin Strickland, Jesse Strickland, Gary Wainright and Allen Luwisch. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of the Hospice of the Golden Isles and Dr. Chitty. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
