Waynesville – William Roger Skipper, 81, of Waynesville passed away Monday afternoon (April 13, 2020) at his residence after an extended illness.
Born in Conway, SC his parents were John Henry Skipper and Nellie Maybelle Sellers Skipper. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Annette Dowling Skipper; a brother, Jimmy Skipper; and a sister, Willie Mae Helms.
William worked at Flexi in the maintenance department and served in the National Guard and United States Army Reserves. He loved gardening, watching his chickens, wood working, and fishing.
Survivors include his 2 sons and daughters-in-law, William & Sandy Skipper of Hortense and Greg & Darla Skipper of Brunswick; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Cindy Smith and Sherry & Rocky Dixon all of Waynesville; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Willis & Linda Skipper of South Carolina; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Edith & Vernon Black and Tammy Cobb all of South Carolina; his companion, Sylvia Gibbs of Waynesville; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Due to COVID-19, the family will be having a private graveside service Thursday (April 16, 2020) at Smyrna Cemetery.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway Brunswick GA 31525.
