April 1, 1929 — February 11, 2015

Willie Jewel Austin Brooker , 85 of Nahunta, passed away Wednesday (February 11, 2015) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Jacksonville, following an extended illness. Born in Brunswick, GA., her parents were Roy Earl Austin and Jewel White Austin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Audry "Bill" Brooker; a brother, Isaac "Sonny" Earl Austin, Sr.; and an infant sister, Margaret Austin. Mrs. Brooker worked as a secretary for Brantley County Board of Education. She was of the Baptist Faith, and enjoyed crocheting, baking cakes, painting, and reading . Mrs. Brooker was a member of the Eastern Star, and she owned and operated Brooker's Department Store most of her life. Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law, William Pryce Brooker (Debra), of Hoboken, Martin Duane Brooker (Linda)of Marietta, GA; 5 grandchildren, Brett Brooker, of Blackshear, Scott Brooker (Tiffany), of Brunswick, Emily Powell (Josh), of Hapeville, GA; Beth Durm (Josh), of Decatur, GA, and Greg Brooker, of Marietta; 2 great grandchildren, Jake and Morgan Brooker. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. No visitation will be held. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday (February 14, 2015) at 11AM at King Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Rowell and Bro. Bud Jones officiating. Burial will be held Saturday (February 14, 2015) at 2PM at Greenlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brett Brooker, Scott Brooker, Greg Brooker, Josh Powell , Josh Durm, and Earl Austin. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Brantley County Senior Center. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Sympathy may be expressed by expressing our online registry at fryefh.com.
