Willie Joe Moody, 79, of Nahunta died Wednesday morning (October 7, 2009) at Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross after a short illness. Born in Hortense, his parents were Isaac "Ike and Courtney Strickland Moody. He is also preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters-in-law, Lenwood & Cleon Moody, Pete Moody, Tom & Mattie Moody, Nolan "Dick" & Lucille Moody, Lester "Grouch" & Nola Moody, Everett "Jake" Moody, and J.L. Moody; and 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris & Eldred Lewis and Leona & Joe W. Moody. He served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force working as a photographer in the Army and as a Teletype Operator with the Air Force, and retired from Sears as a Division Manager over sales for the Men's Departments. He was a member of Satilla Missionary Baptist Church in Hortense where he was a Sunday School teacher ,and worked with the RA's, Mr. Joe also was a member of "Campers On Mission", with the Georgia Baptist Convention, where he helped to build churches. He is survived by his wife of 56 yrs, Colleen Herrin Moody of Nahunta; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan "Mutt" & Ruby Moody, of Nahunta and John "Sonny" & Carol Ann Moody, of Patterson; a sister and brother-in-law, Polly & Joe T. Moody, of Hortense; a sister-in-law, Nola Moody, of Hortense; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Saturday (October 10, 2009) at the Frye Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday (October 10, 2009) starting at 11AM with Rev. Daniel Harris, Rev. R. C. Mathis and Rev. Hilton Morgan officiating. A private burial will be later in Bethlehem Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carswell Royster, Charles Sikes, Greg Murphy, Glen Lee, David Woods and Jimmy Moody. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.fryefh.com
