Jacksonville-Wilma Eugenia Rowell Hamil, 76 of Jacksonville, passed away Sunday afternoon (July 26, 2015) at Community Hospice Morris Center, in Jacksonville, FL. following an extended illness. Born in Patterson, GA., her parents were David Tillman Rowell and Minnie Mae Manning Rowell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Keil Head Hamil, Jr.; and 2 sisters, Laverne Morgan and Bernice Waters. Wilma was employed for many years with the United States Postal Services in Jacksonville as a Mail Carrier. She was a member of Garden City United Methodist Church in Jacksonville. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren , gardening, and cooking. Wilma was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Morris Hamil (Rebecca); three daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn Johnson (Donald), Janet Deen, and Patti Hamil, all of Jacksonville; 4 grandchildren, Chase Hamil, of Patterson, Katie Townsend (Kenneth), of Yulee, FL., Sarah Thomas (John), of Jacksonville, and Sunni Rigdon (Jeffery), of Fort Campbell, Kentucky; 8 great grandchildren, Brantley Tillman Lloyd, Bishop Taylor Lloyd, Tyler Townsend, Kory Jo Townsend, Riley Thomas, John Wayne Thomas, Trenton Abel Hamil, and one on the way; A brother and sister-in-law, R.T. Rowell (Selma), of Hortense; 2 nieces and their spouses, Sherry Strickland (Wynn), and Sandra Davis (Adolph). Also several other nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday (July 30, 2015) at 11AM at Garden City United Methodist Church (3057 Dunn Ave. Jacksonville, FL 32218) with Rev. Allen Patz officiating. Visitation will be held at the Church one hour prior to the service starting at 10 AM. Interment will follow at 3:30PM Thursday (July 30, 2015) at Raulerson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Garden City United Methodist Church Food Bank. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
