Zachariah Tillman

Mr. Zachariah "Z.H." Tillman, 97, of Waynesville died Friday evening (October 22, 2010) at Bayview Nursing Home after an extended illness. Born in Colquitt Co., GA on January 2, 1913 his parents were John & Missouri Flowers Tillman. He is also preceded in death by a granddaughter and 7 brothers, Dallas, L.B., Ernest, Mitchell, Spencer, T.J., and J.B. Tillman. Mr. Tillman farmed in Brooks Co for many years and later worked for the City of Quitman where he retired at the age of 70. After retiring in 1986 he moved to Brantley Co. He was a member of King Memorial Baptist Church and a former deacon. Mr. Z.H. loved fishing and working in his yard. He especially enjoyed taking care of his grape arbors. Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Clyde Harris Tillman of Bayview Nursing Home, Nahunta; 6 children & their spouses, Yvonne & Fred Jordan of China Grove, NC, Ernestine & Eddie Hunnewell of Waynesville, Bobby & Frances Tillman of Moultrie, Frank & Donna Tillman of China Grove, NC, Tommy & Cheri Tillman and Timmy Tillman all of Brunswick; 8 Grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Monday evening (October 25, 2010) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning (October 26, 2010) at 11AM at King Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Yawn officiating. Burial will follow in Homeward Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Claude Edgy, Mike Smith, Marshall Edgy, Bo Hendrix, Rooster King and Darrell Whatley. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Bayview Nursing Home. Arrangement are with Frye Funeral Home. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.fryefh.com.
